Today Gamers #DiscoverIndies
January 4, 2019 by Indie Gamer Chick 4 Comments
Today is the first #DiscoverIndies Friday. The idea is, on the first Friday of every month in 2019, gamers from all walks of life should find a single indie game they’ve never heard of before, play it, and report back on it. The response so far as been incredible. Overwhelming really, and I wanted to share it with everyone!
Thank you to the entire gaming community for participating. I’ve been Indie Gamer Chick for 7 1/2 years and I’ve seen so many games that were wonderful but never found their audiences. We could never hope to lift all of them up, but if everyone participates once a month, we can rescue a lot of great titles from obscurity. #DiscoverIndies is an investment in our futures as gamers. And here’s what you came up with.
Coffee Crisis definitely has that TMNT Arcade/Final Fight look and feel. Attacks and jump kicks especially. #DiscoverIndies pic.twitter.com/Ids9akOSD5

#TheFirstTree was an absolutely captivating journey from its humble beginnings through to its heartfelt conclusion. An utterly unexpected gaming adventure that had it not been for #DiscoverIndies I might never have had the joy to experience.

One new #indiegame wasn't enough for @tay_clemons this first #DiscoverIndies Friday! @themindseclipse by #indiedev @forgethelight is a dystopian sci-fi visual novel that takes place on Jupiterโs moon, Europa, with creepy atmosphere and wonderful, sketch-style art pic.twitter.com/V0tFAkGzYv

First day of #DiscoverIndies: Decided to try Uncanny Valley for the Switch, a 2D survival horror game. https://t.co/BMKZySwq53 Aaaaand…well, it has an interesting premise & setup, but it's quite slow so far, & the controls are awkward. But we'll see how it goes…

As you progress in the game, you can recruit people to stay at your camp, and in return they will sell you permanent upgrades to make your next run a bit easier. I love that kind of stuff in games. #ManaSpark #DiscoverIndies pic.twitter.com/JgtTFqbBlQ

The Adventures of Elena Temple has a gameplay inspired from classic games of '80s and it's funnier to play than I expected. There is also an useful map. The game is the same in all machines, so everyone can choose the preferred.

Here's Devious Dungeon by @Woblyware and @ravenousgames
on #psvita as part of #DiscoverIndiesIt's 2d Dungeon RPG. There is more than 62 levels ( I'm only at the 4th) you have to kill enemies to earn money and xp.
There's side quest to earn more money that you'll use 1/2 pic.twitter.com/yfUi1toZwW— GHT1KAT 79 (@nikobud95) January 5, 2019
I started #ShalnorLegends as part of #DiscoverIndies thanks to @IndieGamerChick and only planned on a playing for about an hour or so (that was almost 3.5 hours ago). I'm really enjoying the game, it reminds me a little of a Link to the Past with is great. pic.twitter.com/cP0VLbIMfB

It didn't take long at all for me to get the hang of it and know where stuff was. I was placing multiple burgers on the grill at once, grabbing the ketchup bottle with one hand and squirting it on after placing a piece of cheese with the other hand… GREAT flow! #DiscoverIndies pic.twitter.com/57ASLwLCyV

So going to join in the fun a bit of #DiscoverIndies here – I found Chaos Sector a retro strategy game that aims to be relatively minimalist in many areas but still have depth. It does toss you in the deep end but helps by providing some advisers and clean UI pic.twitter.com/CZXIr4d6sG

My final thoughts on my #DiscoverIndies game called Laws of Machine (on Steam & PSN) I liked the puzzle platforming, good tunes, & robot character. Bonus: it had 20 trophies! I did run into a few problems in some levels, but you could easily restart a level. @IndieGamerChick pic.twitter.com/UjQXcXJwPO

#PerilsOfBaking so far such hilarious fun game. Soundtrack, art style are classic & well done. Love delicious dessert enemies. Even most frustrating parts I've enjoyed. Enjoying @Nihilumbra on the Switch, one thing to be aware of is that you have to play it in handheld as it requires the touch screen and there is no alternative. The controls seem fluid but I haven't got far into the touchscreen section yet #DiscoverIndies pic.twitter.com/B1al1I4aQf

Halloween Forever is a game that perfectly symbolizes #DiscoverIndies today. I had been casually perusing for platformers, really scraping the bottom of the list on Steam, when this gem showed up. Excellent controls, plenty of ways to play, a narrative-driven environment. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/z0VjWP4ux6

I started this game from @HallidGames called #MIRCRONWARSXR and it's amazing. The game has great gameplay, graphics, audio, and it's also very polished. I would recommend this to anyone who likes endless arcade shooters (just 99ยข). It's amazing. #DiscoverIndies @IndieGamerChick pic.twitter.com/EhOLpuuX6L

These are the kinds of levels I crave in a post-Braid world. Puzzles where all the gameplay bits are at my fingertips – just have to figure how it all goes together! (Currently Playing ADVENTURE LAMP for #DiscoverIndies) pic.twitter.com/nIddmK0mbq

Games like Actual Sunlight and Little Red Lie that has value to put a perspective of someone's life that is real makes the story great in my book. Played those games in the past and it makes me wish more games has these type. Great games everyone should try. #DiscoverIndies pic.twitter.com/E9bHOOpBX4

OK… I finally made it past the crystals from hell stage. This was really a challenge for me.
Every #GrumpyJoe movement has to be well executed and perfectly timed. You can't half-ass a jump and make it. You will die.

Today was wicked fun to be part of! Excited for the future of this event. I’m going to do what I can to help spread the word and help this grow to it’s full potential! (Sorry a little over excited)
Oh dude I’m thrilled beyond belief how people are legitimately excited over the potential this represents. And it’s a positive, community-oriented event not subject to controversy or politics. It’s something EVERYONE can get behind.
That’s one of my favorites parts. Someone like me, a tiny blogger, can feel like their making a contribution and maybe even an actual difference.
