I regret that I didn’t check out Mickey & Donald when I had the chance to. The site that had it used Flash, and flash is dead.

Popeye is my favorite Nintendo arcade game, and thus the Game & Watches are on my list. I want to do ALL the Konami handhelds. They even have a Beatmania handheld!! I know, right?!

Plus these LCD reviews are a cinch to do and I, frankly, have a blast doing them. They do really good page views too, I think because everyone from the 80s and 90s either hand one or knew someone who did, and you saw them in toy stores. But, it’s unlikely they’ll be another installment of LCD Games of the 80s anytime soon because I actually really did run out of options. What you see in these 7 volumes is what’s out there right now. Unlike other forms of emulation, where I can throw on any obscure NES or Commodore 64 or MSX game on my computer anytime I want, that’s not an option with 99.9% of these LCD games. That’s why I started this piece off with a plea to collectors: donate your units to those who preserve them forever.

Tiger Skeet Shoot: You just shoot skeets. Your guy is drawn on the bezel, aiming the rifle is done with a satisfying little dial.

Konami TMNT: Good music, two-stage gameplay. Hard as hell, I think I only beat it once or twice. Plus you could flip it over and use it as a futuristic surfboard for your TMNT figures.

Game & Watch Tabletop Popeye: Great use of the license, you have to punch Bluto across the screen until he falls off the dock. Olive Oyl is tied up on the upper level with a can of spinach that gets closer each round, and she kicks it off in the third. If Popeye catches it he punches Bluto onto a hanging hook, if not you get to start over. A swordfish can stab you in the ass if you play Game B, and Swee’pee appears if you set the alarm on the game.

Q&Q Camelot: A princess carries a frog across a forest avoiding goblins and witches to a castle. After you do this for several rounds, the frog becomes a prince who can fight back, and you escort the princess back the way you came.

Game & Watch Mickey & Donald: Goofy is in it too, they’re all firemen putting out an apartment building fire. This is a dual screen game, Mickey travels up to patch leaks in the hose and down to keep Goofy motivated, he’s working the water pump and will slack off if you leave him alone too long. Donald moves left and right spraying water on the climbing fire.
